I was going through some old photos and came across this. This was my first pony, Abba. I remember, even now, going with my parents to try him.

“He is 7” they said “done a bit” they said!!!!! He was perfect – until I got him home. Day after day he bucked me off. I fell off him lots, I cried lots, I wanted to sell him a lot. Unfortunately he then fell ill – the vet was called and they confirmed he had strangles and that he was actually 3 not 7!

No wonder he had been bucking me off all the time, the vet said he had probably only just been backed!

He got better and I learnt to sit his bucks. Together we had the best fun. Not only did he teach me he taught lots of other children to ride - he even learnt to carry riders side saddle.

Abba stayed with the family until the ripe old age of 30.
